HIT Final Project
The COVID-19 pandemic has presented us with unprecedented challenges, requiring constant adjustment in an environment of complex decision-making in a state of complete uncertainty.
Designed as part of my final project in HIT University, "ESSENTIAL BUSINESS" is a fictitious brand that seeks to apply a critical look at the new economy created by dealing with the COVID-19 virus.
The product design approach seeks to undermine the relationship between the product and its essentialism by radicalizing the aesthetic and conceptual factors that influence consumption trends and attributing them to seemingly trivial objects and that are devoid of any economic or functional value.

Our brand packaging is based on a minimal monochromatic color palette, featuring our logo and our signature "ALL CAPS" bold typography choices, making it instantly recognizable and impossible to confuse.
The front of the each bag features the specific coordinates that your "PREMIUM NATURE" product was taken from, as well as an aerial map of that area.

The term conspicuous consumption was coined by the American sociologist and economist Thorstein Veblen in 1899. Veblen pointed to the irrational desire of affluent societies to purchase commodities whose cost exceeds their worth, in order to showcase high economic status and quality of life.

Products and commodities have changed significantly since Veblen's time, as their role has shifted increasingly from the satisfaction of actual needs to the satisfaction of desires. Whereas products or services can fulfill needs, desire produces lust, and needs are invented alongside a thirst for more and more objects.
Our products explore aesthetic and conceptual triggers that influence consumer trends and manipulate the relationship between an object and an ideal.
Works in the series borrow their forms from the world of consumption and their concepts from the field of consumer ethics. They expose the often arbitrary connection that a product has to its packaging, and the conditions in which a designer operates.
